Nasi Lemak By 151 Hugh low

Nasi Lemak is Malaysia's national dish. Recently making it to Taste Atlas's 100 Best Traditional Dishes of the World, it was also recognised as one of the 10 Most Healthy International Breakfasts by Time Magazine.

Expert opinions vary on exactly where the dish was invented but most believe it was from the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.  One of the earliest mentions of nasi lemak was in The Straits Times newspaper dated July 21st, 1935.  The dish was also described in  a 1943 book entitled The Circumstances of Malay Life by Sir R.O. Winstedt.

The best nasi lemak comes from choice fragrant rice steamed with the highest quality coconut milk and a touch of sweet pandan leaves.  Sides like fried anchovies and roasted peanuts must be crunchy and the eggs expertly deep fried in a wok.  And of course, the deep red sambal must be out of this world in a sweet and spicy combination of pure magic.

Traditionally, nasi lemak is served with fried chicken.  We have further developed the dish to include other local favourites like ayam masak merah, sambal sotong, lemongrass fried chicken and beef rendang.  Please enjoy the nasi lemak by 151 Hugh Low.
